Alcohol consumption gets elevated to an art form in the American Midwest. As you danced the polka with the bride, somebody was sneaking draft beers down to the kids in the parking lot. As a result, forging driver's licenses in drafting class so we could buy beer never felt like a crime, more like my civic duty.
Our basketball coach first referred to Wayno and me as "Yahoos" the Friday he busted us for crossing the gym floor in our street shoes. After a Sunday night party at my cousin, Dawn's the whole starting lineup skipped practice on Monday. Harry threatened his players with suspension, should he ever catch them with those two yahoos, so we named our local chapter of the Midwest Drinking Cult Harry's Yahoos in his honor.
Nik's dad ran the local screen printing shop and he generously schooled me on the whole printing business. Approving the color proof made from the sketch in my geometry notebook, he ran off a sample shirt, then he gave me some time to hustle up orders before printing from his on-hand inventory. Dozens of t-shirts were soon seen annoying the coach in the classrooms, at pep rallies, and at games.
Harry's Yahoos were acknowledged by the high school cheerleaders in their cheers, and by radio announcers during local broadcasts of the games.
"....and as you folks at home can hear, Harry's Yahoos are not happy with that call by the referee."
Q: Who has more fun than us? A: Nobody! And isn't fun the best thing to have?
Shanachies works mostly with words, so most of my designs are little more than stylized text to keep the focus on the message. But there is a backstory to this design, and now you know it.
About the T-Shirt:
Gildan 61000 (or equivalent) t-shirts are 100% pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton with shoulder-to-shoulder taping. Quarter-turned after printing to avoid a crease down the center from blanks made in Bangladesh, Honduras, Haiti, Mexico, or Nicaragua.
This product is printed and shipped upon demand by merry gnomes in one of our virtual sweatshops. Takes a wee bit o' time, so thanx in advance for your patience.
To your continued success!
